This page showcases my landscape paintings in their lasting homes.
I have long been interested in Interiors. The relationship between paintings and the rooms and spaces in which they hang is very important in Interior design in creating the desired mood in a living space.
This beautiful sitting room, with its deep blue walls is home to my misty painting of Derwent Water.
During my Exhibition in Mayfair in 2017 an Elegant American woman who breeds horses came into browse and admired my dog portraits. She commissioned this portrait of her horse.

Portraits and Interiors
Each portrait tells its own story. Portrait Commissions are very personal. There are as many reasons behind a commision as there are commissions. My Artist response is required to be unique each time.
In this page you will see a number different portraits that I have done for Clients.

GIrl with a pearl earring
This painting at first look is the famous Vemeer.
On closer observation you will notice it is very similar but not the original.
The story behind this painting is as follows;
Locally I met a baker whose face I felt, just needed to be painted! She agreed to my desire to paint her face. Vemeer often painted sceens of everyday life and in so doing capture the dignity of humanity and elevated the humble chores of domestic living. I wanted to imitate his style by working in oil glazes. The end piece was very pleasing. a painting of this beautiful women, a baker, with her timeless beauty.

I had the privilege of spending time with John in his final weeks of his life. As a family friend I was asked if I would make a record of John in his dying weeks. The family asked me to work from life, simple sketches in oil paint to capture these precious moments of his life. I visited John on three occasions and only wish I could have spent more time painting this wonderful friend.
Iconography is an ancient art practice traditionally for deplicting religious imagery.
It is prevalent in the Orthodox tradion and becoming more and more popular in the western churches. I have made a number of icons on commission and have found learning about the processes involved in using egg terpora and guilding with gold leaf riveting. If you would like to commission an icon, please make contact with me via email, Iconcommisions@gmail.com

Undoubtably when we invite one of these creatures into our lives, they become very much loved by us. How better to remember this beloved companion than by a painted portrait. Typically, it takes me 6-8 weeks to turn a pet portrait around.
A testomy from a client, “Working with Mary-Maye was an enjoyable experience and I was delighted with the end result. We managed to keep the whole process a secret and my wife was over the moon”.
